THE GREAT RULERS OF PALESTINE MENTIONED IN QURAN

During my session at Cinta Gaza Malaysia this evening, I started my third lecture on the great rulers of Palestine mentioned in the Quran, specifically the beginning of Prophet Daud’s career as recorded in Surah Al-Baqarah (verses 250-252).

In front of 10 students online – using the Zoom platform – and five staff members whom I brought from @tadabbur_centre , I began my lecture by raising the question,

“Why is the story of the Bani Israel under the leadership of Thalut عليه السلام mentioned separately in Surah Al-Baqarah from the story of the Bani Israel under the leadership of Prophet Musa عليه السلام ?“

Bani Israel under the leadership of Thalut ➡️249-252

“If the story of the Bani Israel is already in the first juzuk, why not just gather the subsequent stories of the Bani Israel in the same juzuk, no need to “jump” all the way to the end of Surah al-Baqarah, which contains 286 verses?”

Although Allah SWT criticizes the attitude of the Bani Israel under the leadership of Prophet Musa, it doesn’t mean that as soon as the Bani Israel is mentioned in the same surah, they will always be evil at any time.

Approaching the third juzuk, Allah praises the attitude of the Bani Israel under the leadership of Thalut and Daud عليهما السلام. Why ?

Ustaz Nouman Ali Khan explained his lesson, which is to learn whatever is good from anyone, including those who have been your enemies. Don’t let your hatred towards a certain group prevent you from accepting any goodness that may exist in them.

If this spirit existed during the RR-SS debate last night, there would be a lot of goodness that could be gained by the followers of both political parties, to reduce fanaticism and feel that only our group is always right, while other groups are always wrong.

Listen carefully to every argument, even if they come from your opponents. Recognize the goodness in them before giving criticism, appreciate the points of similarity before emphasizing the differences.
